A little about the trip...

So, as it stands right now we will be leaving our homes from Halifax, Nova Scotia on August 26th, 2014 and we will be on our way to Southeast Asia!!  

Lauren and I will be staying in SEAsia for 64 days and have a potential return date of October 28th.  Chris will be coming with us on our way over but will be leaving us about a month in when we're somewhere around Bangkok, Thailand because he'll need to get back to his job (womp, womp...).

Lauren and I printed off a map yesterday and decided on the rough route we're going to take throughout the countries.  Now, we don't want to plan out every aspect of the trip but we have a couple things we really want to do while we're over there so we want to budget out the days that we have so that we don't miss anything on our list (i.e. a Full/Half Moon Party in Thailand).  We also want to be able to plan out the best ways to get from country to country while we're there.

Our route thus far is this:
Depart Halifax, NS -- fly to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (with some layovers) -- bus to Phnom Penh, Cambodia -- bus to Battambang -- Bus to Siem Reap -- fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- bus/train to Langkawi -- bus/train to Phuket/Krabi Province/Phi Phi Islands -- bus/train & ferry to Koh Phangan, Thailand -- boat to Koh Tao -- bus/train to Bangkok -- bus/train to Vang Vieng -- bus/train to Luang Prabang -- bus/train to Hanoi, Vietnam -- bus/train down the coast of Vietnam on our way back to Ho Chi Minh City -- fly to Halifax, NS.

So in case you didn't get that the countries we're going to are Vietnam then Cambodia then Malaysia then Thailand then Laos then back to Vietnam.  We obviously haven't figured everything out to this point yet but we're getting there!  I'll keep you posted as we decide on more aspects!

Entry Numero Uno

Hey there!

I'm headed to Southeast Asia in 156 days with one of my best friends and her brother.  We're going to Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Laos and I couldn't be more excited!

As a way to curb my enthusiasm I've been reading countless blogs and watching I don't even know how many youtube videos about other peoples' trips which got me thinking...I should start a blog of my own.  Who knows how many people will even read this, I just think it will be a neat thing to look back to when the trip is over and the travel bug comes biting again.
